Here is how a "free" house clearance actually works behind the scenes, and why it can sometimes cost you more than hiring a traditional service.

1. The "Asset vs. Labour" Offset

A clearance company isn't working for charity; they are acting as liquidators. Before offering a free clearance, they will inspect the property to calculate two numbers The cost of the job: Labour hours, vehicle fuel, and commercial tipping/disposal fees (which are heavily charged by weight at local waste transfer stations).
